2008-03-26 06:46
  From:State-owned Enterprises    Article type:Original

Tom Albanese, CEO of Rio Tinto, the world second largest minerals company, expressed on March 22 that the company had the intention to cooperate with Chinese state-owned enterprises to develop the global minerals program.

The proposal would ease the tension resulted from negotiations on iron ore between Rio Tinto, its counterpart BHP Billiton and Chinese steel enterprises headed by Baosteel.

Albanese said to media in Beijing that he had not planed to meet the management from Baosteel or officials from China Iron & Steel Association in this visit.

He added that “There are many cooperative opportunities in manner of joint venture or similar modes and I believe Chinese state-owned enterprises will exert important functions.”
